The Prayer Basket
Prayer has been at the heart of the Community of Our Lady of Sorrows from its beginning, and one of the ways we share that prayer with others is through The Prayer Basket.
The Prayer Basket began in March 1999 as a way for members of a church community to share prayer requests confidentially. When the Community of Our Lady of Sorrows was founded in 2006, The Prayer Basket became one of its ministries and has continued without interruption ever since.
The Prayer Basket is sent by email Monday through Friday, except on major holidays, and subscriptions are free. Each edition includes Scripture readings for the day, a prayer for peace, a thought for the day, an inspirational meditation or the story of a saint, as well as new and continuing prayer requests.
The Prayer Basket is available in editions adapted for different Christian traditions, including Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox. When subscribing, simply let us know your faith tradition so we can send the edition most appropriate for you.
Prayer Requests
We would be glad to pray for you or someone you love.
Requests are included in the next regular edition of The Prayer Basket. We ask only for the first name of the person for whom prayer is requested; a last name is not necessary. Please also provide your first name and email address so that we can contact you if an update or clarification is needed. If you prefer that your request be listed anonymously, simply let us know and we will honor your wishes.
Your privacy is important to us. Names, email addresses, and other personal information submitted to The Prayer Basket are never sold or shared with outside organizations.
